Ben Roethlisberger May Save Your Life
By: Keith Riffle
By now, if you know anything about football, or even if you don't, chances are, you know about Ben Roethlisberger's recent motorcyle accident.
If you haven't heard the story it went something like this: Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Stealers, the youngest NFL quarterback to win a Super Bowl, recently was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was thrown from his motorcycle into a vehicle, suferred numerous facial wounds, broke his jaw, suferred a concussion, lost a few teeth, and, nearly lost his life because he wasn't wearing a helmet. After 7 hours of surgery and being in very serious condition, by the grace of God, Ben Roethlisberger going to be ok, even though his wounds will take time to heal. Few people who have experienced motorcycle accidents have fared as well. In fact, I knew someone who's mother worked in a hospital, and motorcycles were known by the hospital staff as "murdercycles", because the rider often died when he was involved in a motorcycle crash.
Prior to his accident, Ben Roethlisberger had been very outspoken about his right to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Now that he's escaped death, he's having second thoughts - perhaps it would be a good idea to wear a helmet. If there's anything you can learn about Ben Roethlisberger's accident, it would be to wear a helmet. Perhaps Ben's life was speared so that he could spread a message to you, and maybe save your life if you are thinking about riding your motorcycle without a helmet...
Life is a gift, and it can be taken away at any time...be responsible, swallow your pride, and wear a helmet, so those who love you can spend many more years on this earth with you in the event you have a motorcycle accident, because chances are, you won't fare nearly as well as Ben Roethlisberger did. So enjoy your freedom while you are on your motorcycle, but please wear a helmet.
